Meet Emily Jade
Hi, I'm Emily Jade.
I'm a self-taught artist based in Cairns, Far North Queensland, creating original paintings inspired by flowers, birds, nature and the little moments that stay with us.
What began as a creative outlet gradually became something much bigger. Today, my work has found its way into homes across Australia, with each piece created slowly by hand from my home studio.
I've always been drawn to the beauty found in the natural world - the shape of a flower, the personality of a tiny bird, a colour combination spotted while travelling, or a memory that deserves to be held onto. Through layers of acrylic, texture and palette-knife work, those moments find their way onto canvas.
One of my favourite parts of being an artist is knowing that a painting continues its story once it leaves my studio. Some mark milestone, some remember someone special, and others are simply chosen because they make someone smile every time they walk past.
When I'm not in the studio, you'll usually find me travelling, spending time with family and loved ones, enjoying a vanilla iced latte, or noticing the little details that inevitably become inspiration for something new.

Art first became a creative escape from the pace of a demanding career - a quiet place to slow down, experiment and make something simply because i loved it.
After being diagnosed with Scleroderma at 23, that creative space took on an even deeper meaning. Painting became my way to reconnect with the beauty around me and find calm in the process of making something by hand.
What began quietly has since grown into a practice i never expected - with original paintings finding homes around Australia, commissions carrying personal stories, and one of my artworks created for a 2027 Teacher Planner cover.
Today, much of my inspiration comes from the world around me: flowers and gardens, Australian birds, places I’ve travelled, changing seasons and those seemingly ordinary moments that somehow stay with us.
Those are often the moments i most want to paint.

Artist Statement
My work is inspired by the beauty and stories found in the natural world - from flowers in bloom and the personality of a bird, to colours, places and small moments collected along the way.
Working primarily with acrylic, modelling paste and palette knives, i build each painting slowly through the layers of colour and texture. The tactile nature of my work is an important part of the process, allowing familiar subjects to take on a sense of movement, character and life.
Increasingly, I find myself drawn not only to what is beautiful, but what it represents - a memory, a place, a person or a moment worth holding onto.
My hope is that each painting becomes more than something beautiful on a wall. That it creates connection, carries a story and eventually becomes part of the home and memories it finds.
